Appraisal & valuation
Appraisal is the core action of the pawnshop. Customers bring goods, and the player judges authenticity and sets a price:
- Use appraisal tools (magnifying glass, colour checker, etc.) to inspect print, seals, liquid colour, and other details.
- Some high-value items need specialised equipment (e.g. a composition spectrometer).
- Pricing too low drives customers away; pricing too high ties up stock or loses money.
Every hoarded good carries risk: cigarettes need a visual check, weapons need a licence and modifications.
Haggling
Every deal can be haggled. The Steam description stresses that "every deal has a cost" — pressing too hard may anger customers or hurt reputation, while offering too much may cost the sale.
Rent cycle
Rent comes due every seven days and keeps rising. Paying on time lets the business expand; missing it triggers serious consequences.
Water economy
Water is the station's hard currency. The water-trading flow:
- Test water quality — use a water-testing kit to judge purity.
- Filter and purify — process dirty water with a purifier and other equipment.
- Bottle and trade — seal with a bottle printer before selling.
Aug detection
Aug customers look no different from ordinary people, so identification relies on observation:
- Watch for abnormal dialogue content and phrasing.
- Watch for behaviour that gives away a non-human tell.
- All factions act on confirmed Augs on the spot.
Machines & crafting
The player can buy and deploy machines to build production chains. Confirmed machines:
| Machine | Use |
|---|---|
| Furnace | Scrap metal / ore → ingots |
| Water Purifier | Filter dirty water |
| Moisture Farm | Produce water |
| Bottle Printer | Produce liquid containers |
| Chemistry equipment | Drug and chemical crafting |
| Toolbox | Basic crafting tool |
| Scav Scanner | Scavenging appraisal aid |
Law evasion
The pawnshop deals in stolen and contraband goods, so evading the law is part of the job:
- Hide stolen and contraband goods so security doesn't find them.
- If caught, you can pay your way out.
- Some goods (e.g. weapons) require the right licence.

Mod support
The game supports Steam Workshop. Several community mods already exist (e.g. a "you must eat and drink" survival mod, a toolbox and scav scanner mod).
Mods may change values and generation tables; disable all mods when running guide-style comparison tests.
